The FIG 2010 International Congress will be held in Sydney, Australia from 11 - 16 April, 2010. The  Congress will bring together thousands of surveying and land professionals from across the globe and will be the largest gathering of this type in 2010. As part of FIG 2010, the Young Surveyors have setup this site with help from the CRC-SI to present news, views, clips, vodcasts and screencasts of proceedings for those who can't make it in person.

The FIG Young Surveyors are constantly looking for new ways to provide information and development opportunities to those in the FIG Community. If you have a suggestion for this site or would like the Young Surveyors to upload specific information about the Congress please send us an email.

About the FIG Young Surveyors

The principle idea for the creation of the FIG Young Surveyors working group is based on to the fact that, today many organizations are facing difficulties in attracting young people to the profession of surveying. The goal is to create connections between "old" and "young" surveyors.

• To improve the number of young professionals participating within the FIG.
• To help young professionals in the beginning of their careers with contacts.
• To increase co-operation between the commissions and students and young professionals.
  

Young Surveyors Beyond Horizons

Our Young Ambassadors have organised 5 absorbing pre-Congress tours for young and young-at-heart surveyors and their families. Choose between travelling into the real Australian Outback to commemorate John McDouall Stuart's 19th century expeditions or tasting the application of GIS technologies in a famous Australian wine region before gathering together in the nation's capital, Canberra, to inspect the Mt Stromlo observatory and to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the surveying of the Territory borders.
